Mushroom Curry

Wow.. This is the first time I am ever publishing any of my recipes from My Kitchen, so a bit excited..Well this a a dish I make quite often at home. Mushrooms are one of my Favorite and I would love to try different kinds of recipes with them.

Trying to learn the skills of Food Photography.. so excuse me..

This Mushroom Curry goes well with Chapatti & rice.Believe me it tastes yummy.

Ingredients:

Mushrooms 200gms- 250 gms
Onion 1 big (chopped in to small pieces)
Tomato puree 4 tbsp (2 medium size tomato ground in the mixer)
Ginger & Garlic Paste 2 tsp
2 tbsp of Olive oil or Sunflower oil
Green Chillies 2
Mustard seeds
Turmeric Powder 1 tsp
Coriander powder 2 tsp.
Cumin Powder 1 tsp
Garam masala 2 tsp
Katai or dried mango powder - a pinch
Salt to taste
Coriander leaves to Garnish

Wash the Mushrooms thoroughly and allow to drain. Meanwhile you can prepare the tomato puree if you are not using the tinned one. I prefer fresh ones personally.

Similarly I used fresh ground Ginger ( a small piece) and Garlic (4 cloves) for the Ginger - garlic paste.

Heat the oil in a pan and add a little Mustard seeds, allow it to splutter. Add the half slit Green chillies and onions.

Once the onions are Golden brown add the ginger garlic paste  and saute for 2 minutes, then add the tomato puree and saute till the raw smell leaves.

Add Turmeric, coriander, cumin & Dried mango powder and saute for 3 -
4 mins.

Then add the chopped Mushrooms and mix it well, add a half cup of water and allow it to cook with the lid on till the mushrooms become soft. Finally add Garam masala powder, salt and garnish with Coriander leaves.

Enjoy this hot with rotis or rice.

Tips:

You can also add fresh cream to this for a richer taste (before garnishing).

Lemon juice can also be added for a different taste (before garnishing) which also turns out to be yummy.
